Neighbourhood House? A Neighbourhood House is a partnership between individuals, neighbours, government & private enterprise. A neighbourhood house is familiar & easily accessible, it is effective in reaching people & helping them with their community aspirations & problems. As a non-governmental organization it is a resource centre with the flexibility to meet changing neighbourhood conditions & needs. It differs from most other social organizations in that it is concerned about the community as a whole & works towards improving the quality of both community & family life. Programs & services reach all age groups & a diverse population that is inclusive & reflective of many different life experiences of the people who live in our community. Neighbourhood Houses build strong, independent communities. Neighbourhood Houses encourage people to thrive. |
